Halfdan Egedius is one of the most intriguing figures in Norwegian art for the immense promise of his talent as a painter and illustrator, largely left unfulfilled by his death at age 21. The above picture was painted when he was 17, during a notable summer camp for artists that took place at Vågå in 1894. In the collection of the Bergen Art Museum (Rasmus Meyers Samlinger).
